LBH vulcanised Elastomeric Expansion Joints are available in 4 different standard types.
Elastomeric expansion joints are especially suitable for wet chemical service and for applications in flue gas desulphurisation plants. The expansion joints are available in numerous shapes and sizes.
LBH specialises in the larger diameters, non-standard lengths and special shapes and configurations not covered by rubber companiesâ€Ã¢¢ standard ranges. The majority of LBH joints are for ducting larger than 600 mm in diameter.
LBH Elastomeric Expansion Joints are suitable for continuous temperatures up to 200ú C (depending on the rubber type) and pressures up to 50 kPa. Each joint is made from a single elastomeric layer of material, which is laminated with one or more reinforcement layers and then vulcanised to form a solid, integral component.
LBH Elastomeric Expansion Joints provide an effective and durable solution to the problems of handling hot gases and associated condensates in hot-air and flue-gas systems.
Unlike metallic joints, elastomeric joints can easily absorb multidirectional expansion movements and vibrations and compensate for resulting misalignments.
The fabric expansion joint is the main LBH product. It is in use in Power Plants, Gas Turbine installations, Offshore installations, Cement works, the Chemical Industry and many others. LBH fabric expansion joint is available in virtually any size and shape. A large number of standard types, covering every medium from clean air to highly aggressive flue gases.
The combined temperature, pressure and media are all decisive factors for the selection of fabric expansion joints.
The temperature capabilities range from -50ú C to +1000ú C and the pressure range from -50kPa to +50kPa. Along with the standard types, numerous special designs are custom-made.
The common factor is always the craftsmanship and the use of superior materials.
The materials used for the individual layers of LBH multi-layer expansion joints and the number of layers vary according to the type of expansion joint and the operational conditions.
All materials undergo an intensive in-house testing before being released for production, just as the properties are verified by independent testing authorities.
LBH GTX Expansion Joints are available in a variety of frame designs and fabric materials. All standard designs can be modified to suit most customer requirements. However, LBH will not compromise our basic design philosophy to accomodate a requirement that may reduce the life or safety of the units.
The new revolutionary design solutions introduced with the GTX-range have been achieved through several years of testing, involving intensive use of FEA-calculations (Finite Element Analysis). There are three standard fabric designs available:
GTX-A: This fabric is used in applications that have no pressure pulses and have fairly smooth flow velocities. The design is typically used on units installed down stream of the turbine, after the diffuser sections where the gas flow characteristics have smoothed.
GTX-B: This is the most commonly used fabric design that will withstand normal pressure pulses and flow conditions. A unit composed of this fabric can be installed e.g. at the bypass outlet sections or after the diffuser sections.
GTX-C: The design is recommended for heavy-duty gas turbine exhaust applications where high pressure pulsations with turbulent flow conditions exist.
Based on the information provided by our customer, the choice of bellows type is generally suggested by LBH.
LBH Expansion Joint Units are delivered ready for installation in the ductwork. The flexible components and steel parts are pre-assembled, ensuring fast and simple installation.
The expansion joint, insulation bolster and steel parts are designed for optimal durability based exactly on the operational conditions in the part of the ductwork where the unit is installed.
LBH has engineering, design and manufacturing ability to provide any technical solution involving expansion joints as well as complete units.
Our team of engineers at LBH in Denmark along with our representatives around the world stand at your disposal with advice during any phase of a project.
Metal Expansion Joints is a range covering any application where LBH Fabric Expansion Joints are not suitable due to pressure conditions. As for all other LBH products, the common factor is the superior quality and the focus on special design solutions.
Standard designs available are:Axial, Lateral, Angular and Universal Expansion Joints. Circular designs are supplied in standard sizes from Dia. 60 mm to Dia. 5000 mm.
The expansion bellows are manufactured as multi-ply bellows and can be combined into double expansion joints and fitted with tie-rods, inner sleeves and other accessories if required.
Design calculations are carried out according to EN13445-3 standards and can be documented by optional testing procedures.
Bellowrap is the fabric expansion joint in roll form.
Bellowrap is ideal for temporary repairs, or it can be chosen as an economical alternative to custom-made fabric expansion joints in belt shape. Bellowrap is available in many different standard types divided into categories according to application.
The composition of layers is similar to that of equivalent standard LBH fabric expansion joints.
Lengths and widths are available according to customer specifications. Standard length: 50 m.
Each pack is delivered including step-by-step photos and instructions together with all special tools and materials necessary for the joining procedure.
LBH Pipe Insulation is a product range designed to prevent thermal losses from pipe systems and to protect personnel from burns.
Each insulator is custom-made, and the product has especially gained distinction for being extremely easy to install, and therefore cost-saving.
LBH Ready-to-use valve insulators have also the function as a heat protector, but are primarely designed in order to prevent thermal losses from valves. The heat dissipation, which hereby can be avoided, provides a considerable energy saving.
Pen Seals are in use in plants where steam pipes penetrate the boiler wall. The Pen Seal effectively prevents thermal losses and the escape of gases. It further allows the tube or pipe to expand and contract thermally, without damaging the surrounding shell.
LBH has for a period of time been working on an alternative to the Steel Pen Seal - which is a good choice when installed on a new-built boiler, but becomes expensive and difficult to work with for retrofits.
The new alternative - LBH Fabric Pen Seal - has its advantages when a conventional Pen Seal of steel has to be replaced. The replacement with an LBH Pen Seal is quick, easy and cheap.
The composition consists of a molded insulation shell which insulates against high temperatures. The outer layer is a specially designed expansion joint, which functions as a gastight membrane.
The LBH Fabric Pen Seal is manufactured in such a way that it can easily be wrapped around the pipe and thus seal up.
The custom-made LBH Fabric Pen Seal is delivered in any size or shape.
The Fire Seal prevents the escape of fire and toxic fumes through pipe penetrations in bulkheads, decks and fire walls in addition to compensating for installation misalignments, thermal movements and vibration of the piping system.
Fire Seals are used in power plants - both nuclear and conventional, chemical plants and refineries. They are particularly suited for marine environments such as off-shore oil platforms, tankers and bulk carriers, where protection of personnel from fire on board is essential.
Testing of the Fire Seal was carried out under the supervision of an independent, accredited research institute, in the presence of internationally recognised surveyors.
Fire Seals are manufactured from a combination of fully tested and approved non-combustible materials - all seals have a unique outer cover material - Fire Cloth - which provides complete protection from the effects of sea water, ozone, methane and hydrocarbon fuels.
HIGH PRESSURE RUBBER EXPANSION JOINTS These types differ from the custom-made Elastomeric Expansion Joints by mainly covering a standard size range and by being able to withstand high operational pressures including the conveying of fluids under high pressure.
The applications are for the absortion of movements, oscillations, noise and vibrations in e.g.: cooling water piping in power stations and industrial plants, desalination plants, drinking water supply, shipbuilding, and in pumps, turbines and tanks.
LBH meet all your demands for High Pressure Rubber Expansion Joints.
